Introduction

GALILEO usage statistics include counts of the following actions:

Instructions

The choices for selection criteria can be made in any order with the exception of the Dates, Institutions, and Databases. Those three must be selected in that order for all cases except the Zoom and Scroll graph which does not need the Dates selection and therefore removes it from view. See the section below for usage tips on the Dates, Institutions, and Databases list boxes.

Reports

There are three types of reports available for the user with specific options below the report type selections. Some of the following options are not applicable to every report and they will be grayed out (disabled) when not applicable.

Exporting Reports

After generating a report the user can choose to export the data in that report to a local file on their computer. There are four delimiter choices available: Additional columns may be added for easier data management in a spreadsheet environment, but for the most part the exported data will closely match the layout of the data on screen.

Selection Criteria

Select Date(s)

To create a statistics report or a graph, the user must select the period of time (in months or years) that the output is to cover. Choose the type of date period first by clicking on the Months ro Years radio button. Note that the list of months can be displayed plain or with the Fiscal Years grouped. The starting month of the Fiscal Year can be changed using the selection provided when Fiscal Years are displayed. The years displayed are calendar years (not fiscal). Each selection action within the month/year list will cause a new set of institutions to populate the list box below. Multiple months/years may be selected consecutively or not.

Select Institution(s)

The next step is to select an institution or institution group by clicking the appropriate name in the Institutions: list box. The list may contain individual institutions or groups (consortiums) depending on the "Show Groups" checkbox. To select a group or an institution it must be moved from the left list box to the right list box. There are several ways to do this.

Select Database(s)

The next step is to select a database or database group by clicking the appropriate name in the Databases: list box. The list may contain individual databases or groups of databases depending on the "Show Groups" checkbox. To select a group or an institution it must be moved from the left list box to the right list box. There are several ways to do this.

Select the Types of Statistics

As stated in the introduction there are various actions for which statistics are available. Once you have selected the dates, institutions and databases, the next step is to select which of these actions you want to report. To select an action, click the appropriate check box (or click multiple check boxes) for: Note that all or none can be selected using the links provided.

Undoing or Clearing Settings

To undo any settings you affected, and to restore everything to the default settings, click the Reset All link. This will not only clear your onscreen settings but it will also clear any saved settings in your browser (cookies).
